Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then located numerous other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
A high-ranking political figure stated the vandalism left him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
